Permachine

Exhibited at the Biennale of Urbanism, Agora Bordeaux 2017

This project imagines a new form of urban hybridization, where economic activities, citizen initiatives, housing, and agriculture meet.

Along the site’s historic water channels, three towers rise: Attraction, Production, and Housing. The Tower of Attraction, the first to appear, introduces change through leisure. The later towers of production and housing embody the broader social and ecological transition of our time.

At the intersections of the canals, urban farms emerge. Together, towers and farms create a dialogue one reaching into the sky, the other rooted in the soil, both fostering ecological awareness and social engagement.

The towers combine monumental concrete structures with light, porous forms. Inside, visitors discover spaces for rest, observation, and mediation, while elevated platforms reveal the agricultural and metropolitan landscape. Designed for flexibility in a floodplain, the project reuses materials and celebrates craft-based construction, envisioning architecture as a driver of sustainable change.
